What are the seven functions of lubricating oil

2023-03-23

Seven functions of lubricating oil:

1. Reduce friction and wear, reduce friction resistance, save energy, reduce wear, prolong mechanical life, and improve economic benefits;

2. Cooling, frictional heat should be discharged from the machine at any time;

3. Sealed to prevent leakage, dust and air channeling;

4. Corrosion resistance and rust prevention;

5. Clean and rinse, and clean and remove the scale in the friction area;

6. Stress dispersion buffering, load dispersion, impact mitigation and shock absorption;

7. Kinetic energy transmission.

First, what is the role of lubricating oil?

1. Lubrication: There is a fast relative sliding between the piston and the cylinder, the spindle and the bearing. In order to prevent excessive wear of the part, an oil film needs to be established between the two sliding surfaces. An oil film of sufficient thickness separates the surface of the relatively sliding part to reduce wear.

2. Cooling and cooling: The engine oil can bring the heat back to the oil tank, and then dissipate it into the air to help the water tank cool the engine.

3. Cleaning and cleaning: good engine oil can bring carbide, sludge and wear metal particles on the engine parts back to the oil tank through circulation, and clean the dirt on the working surface of the parts through the flow of lubricating oil.

4. Sealing and leakage-proof: the oil can form a sealing ring between the piston ring and the piston to reduce gas leakage and prevent external pollutants from entering.

5. Anti-rust and anti-corrosion: lubricating oil can be adsorbed on the surface of parts to prevent water, air, acidic substances and harmful gases from coming into contact with parts.

6. Shock absorption and buffering: When the pressure of the engine cylinder port rises sharply, the piston, piston chips, connecting rods and crankshaft bearings bear a large load. This load is transmitted and lubricated through the bearings to cushion shock loads.

7. Anti-wear: adding lubricant to the friction surface can reduce the friction coefficient, reduce friction resistance, save energy and reduce wear: the lubricant between the friction surfaces can reduce the friction caused by abrasive wear, surface fatigue and adhesive wear.

Second, how to choose lubricating oil

1. Lubricating oil should be selected according to the requirements of machinery and equipment. Lower-grade equipment does not need to use high-grade lubricants, and higher-grade equipment cannot use lower-grade lubricants.

2. Try to choose multi-grade oil, which has a good protective effect on the equipment. Based on the characteristics of multiple genes, it is normal to have premature blackening, normal lubricating oil pressure, and small amount of lubricating oil during use.

3. There is no need to blindly worship foreign countries, some well-known domestic brands of lubricating oil are of good quality.

4. Choose lubricating oil and try to pay attention to viscosity. If the equipment is in good condition and the ambient temperature is low, try to use a low-viscosity lubricating oil to maintain lubrication efficiency. In the case of high temperature season or severe equipment wear, the selection of high-viscosity lubricating oil is conducive to the formation of oil film and reduces engine wear.
